Battle for National Division title remains tense
Dacia Chisinau preserved their leading position in the Moldovan football premiership after drawing 1-1 with major challengers Sheriff Tiraspol on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Tiraspol-based team looked more vibrant in the first half, scoring a goal in the 18th minute thanks toAnatol Cheptine. But Dacia were more dominant in the second half and their efforts paid off in the 87th minute when Levan Korgalidze scored from a free kick. This result gives Dacia a 2-point lead in the premiership over Sheriff.
The battle for the third spot in the National Division is even more tense, with at least three teams currently contesting it after all three scored away victories: Milsami Orhei defeated Gagauzia Comrat 3-0; Olimpia Balti defeated Nistru Otaci 3-0; Iskra-Stal Rybnitsa defeated FC Costuleni 1-0.
Elsewhere, Academia UTM defeated St. Gheorghe Suruceni 2-0, and FC Tiraspol drew with Rapid Ghidighici 0-0.
