BCC chairman and employee suspected of passive corruption

Gheorghe Gorincioi, the chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC), and an employee of the given institution are suspected of passive corruption. The information was confirmed by the deputy head of the Anticorruption Center’s Prosecution Division Bogdan Zumbreanu in a press briefing on Saturday, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Zumbreanu, on January 18 the representative of a company informed the Center that officials of the BCC asked for 110,000 lei in bribe in order not to start an inspection to see the quality and volume of the services provided by the company. Terente Cherdevara, the head of the BCC’s Administrative Division, was caught in the act on January 21. Bogdan Zumbreanu said that the Council’s chairman Gheorghe Gorincioi is investigated as a suspect in the same case, but outside prison. He also said that only the prosecutor can decide whether to arrest Gheorghe Gorincioi or not. The investigation goes on. The two suspects face 7 to 15 years in jail.
