BCC goes on vacation

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) went out on vacation, but not before presenting the activity report for the second quarter of 2012. BCC secretary Dorina Curnic said at the last meeting that there were six public meetings during the second quarter, during which 55 decisions were adopted, reports Info-Prim Neo. “CCA continued developing the broadcasting market, having issued a broadcasting license for a new TV studio, which is to be broadcasted throughout the country, and 2 re-broadcast authorizations for TV studios that broadcast through cable”, mentioned the secretary. In the beginning of May the Council organized a contest on the use of radio frequencies and TV channels, for which 7 broadcasters applied. As a result, one new radio station and one new TV channel emerged, and another radio station and TV channel extended their coverage area. At the initiative of the title holders a broadcast license was revoked, along with 4 re-broadcast authorizations, and 3 broadcast licenses were renegotiated; 10 program concepts, and 21 offers from the re-broadcast service companies, were accepted. Meanwhile, the Broadcast Coordinating Council issued, during the second quarter, 64 sanctions for breaches to the broadcasting regulation, including 38 public warnings and 24 fines. One re-broadcast authorization and one broadcast license were revoked. In April, the Intellectual Property Protection Agency, with the support of the BCC, launched the consumer awareness campaign “Stop Piracy and Counterfeiting!” Aiming towards improving the quality of their activity, as well as rising to the European standards, the BCC took part in 5 international meetings. BCC employees will return for work at the end of August.
