The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) has two new members – Olga Gututui and Dragos Vicol. Parliament confirmed them to posts for a six-year term, IPN reports.
The head of the Parliament’s specialized commission, Lib-Dem Vladimir Hotineanu said the contest involved 10 candidates of the 12 who filed applications. The commission held a vote and Olga Gututui and Dragos Vicol garnered the largest number of votes. No candidate was yet identified for the third vacancy on the BCC and the commission is to hold a new contest.
The Socialist MPs expressed their dissatisfaction with the voting procedure in the commission, which took place behind closed doors, and with the fact that Olga Gututui is an adviser on the commission that selected the members of the BCC, which can be regarded as a conflict of interests. Moreover, the BCC should be dissolved because it no longer represents the interests of the people, but promotes the interests of the oligarchs who monopolized the media sector of Moldova.
Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu said the two candidates were designated by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party and the third candidate will be fielded by the Party of Communists.
The three posts on the BCC remained vacant after Marian Pocaznoi, Ignat Vasilache and Vitalie Tabunshchik completed their duties.
