BCC sanctions several radio stations
Several radio stations were sanctioned on Thursday, July 19, by the Broadcast Coordinating Council, for breaching the legislation on advertisement placement, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“Radio 7” was warned for not using proper sound marks when airing advertisements and teleshopping. “Fresh FM” was warned for not using the message “Alcohol abuse severely harms health” after a beer commercial.
“Kiss FM” also had some irregularities when rerunning commercials from Romania. The station will be re-inspected. The decision was taken when the station representative explained that the irregularities happened due to some maintenance works, which were announced to the BCC through a fax that, apparently, did not reach the destination. CCA member Corneliu Mihalache did not agree, and proposed a minimal fine, but the proposal was rejected.
“Radio Stil” received a public warning for advertising a casino games locale, which is prohibited by Law.
“Pro FM” got a harsher penalty for not translating a rerun of a commercial from the station’s country of origin. The station is prohibited to advertise for 24 hours.
“Europa Plus Moldova” received the maximum penalty of 5,400 lei, after repeated general monitoring, for not respecting the amount of advertisements and teleshopping allowed, along with other breaches. The station representative did not attend the meeting.
The aforementioned are being monitored from July 19 till 21. The sanctions will become effective from the moment of their publication in the Official Gazette.
