BCC warns parents to follow what their children watch on TV
The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) called on the parents to be attentive to what their children watch on TV. The Council produced four social videos about the negative impact of the violent and indecent TV pictures on minors, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We recommend all the TV channels operating in Moldova to broadcast these four videos during prime time. We chose harsher pictures for the first three videos to show that the violent news and the movies with aggressive or indecent pictures have a negative effect on the minors. The fourth video is about the BCC’s green line that those who saw such pictures on TV without warning signals can use to report violations of the law,” said the Council’s chairman Marian Pocaznoi.
The social campaign “What does your child see on TV?” is implemented within the Democracy Support Program in Moldova, which was launched by the Council of Europe.
Program manager Eridana Cano said the protection of minors is one of the priorities of the Council of Europe. “We hope that these social videos will contribute to increasing the TV channels’ responsibility for what they broadcast and the parents will be more attentive to what their children watch,” she stated.
The Council of Europe will donate IT equipment to the Broadcasting Coordination Council for efficiently monitoring the radio and TV channels, said Eridana Cano.
The social videos will be sent to all the TV channels working in the country by mail and published on the BCC’s official website.
