Works to clean and deepen the bed of the Durlești River are performed in the perimeter of Gh. Codreanu St and the entrance to “Moldexpo” Exhibitions Center. The local authorities aim to prevent the flooding of the blocks situated nearby as a result of heavy rain. The General Public Amenities Division said the construction of the sewer in the area was completed, IPN reports.
The Division’s head Ion Burdiumov, in the meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, said a project launched in 2016 together with the Ecological Fund goes on. As part of this project, the riverbed is to be cleaned on a length of 1 km. The riverbed was laid out and reinforced.
According to Ion Burdiumov, the project is close to completion and all the planed actions are to be finished at end-August.
The head of Buiucani district Vadim Brânzaniuc said two companies that erected residential complexes in the area collect the mud. The section close to Codreanu St has never been cleaned during the last 30 years. The riverbed was higher than the zero level of the apartment buildings located nearby. The mud is stored on the bank for a day and is then taken away so as not to dirty the streets during transportation.
