Biometric passports to be issued in several district centers from July 1
Beginning July 1, Moldovans will be able to obtain biometric passports at the centers for people’s documentation and record in Comrat, Soroca, Cahul, Edinet and Briceni, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Communications and IT, besides the CRIS Registru offices in Balti and Chisinau, its bureaus in Comrat and Soroca will issue biometric passports in 30, 15, 10, 5 or just one day, while sections in Cahul, Edinet and Briceni will issue them in 30, 15, 10 or 5 days. The documents will be handed to requesters in the same office they have submitted the request.
Beginning January 1, 2011, CRIS Registru will issue only biometric passports. However, these are not obligatory for those who have usual passports that are still available. People will be able to travel with them to any country which doesn’t forbid the access without biometric passports.
