Boar hunting season opens earlier

Hunters will be able to start hunting wild boars one day earlier, on November 16, as it was established that their number is higher than initially projected. The State Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” said there will be hunted 455 boars in forests, 266 of whom on the areas rented for cynegetics purposes.

Chairman of the Association of Hunters and Fishermen of Moldova Oleg Ciocoi has told IPN that a hunter must pay 2,500 lei per a hunting permit for two days, plus 500 lei a day for the woodman’s work.

“It’s yet not right to pay for the permit without a guarantee that an animal will be hunted. Some of the hunters may catch no boar, but the money is paid at the beginning. In the European countries, it is different. They pay after the animal is hunted,” said Oleg Ciocoi.

According to him, sometimes the hunting permit for an animal is sold for several times. “According to our data, sometimes they hunt at most 20% of the set quota,” said the hunters’ leader.

Hunting is allowed on Saturdays and Sundays, until December 31. This season the hunting of noble deer, spotted deer, roe deer and elks is also banned.
