Body of boy who drowned Sunday not yet found
The rescuers have not yet managed to recover the body of the 13-year-old boy who drowned in the Nistru River on Sunday, August 8. It is not excluded that strong currents took the body down the course kilometers away. Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the search goes on.
The boy, who was from Olanesti village of Stefan-Voda district, went to the river together with his parents, the younger brother and family friends. He entered the water and swam about 20 meters from the bank. At a certain moment, he started to drown, moving his hands desperately. The attempts to save him failed. He could not be found.
A man aged 56 drowned in a well in Salcia, Soldanesti. It is not known how the man got into the well. The police are investigating the case.
As many as 125 persons have drowned in Moldova's waters this year. Nineteen of them were minors.
