Frogmen of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Nistru River, not far from Oxentea village of Dubasari district. Villagers called the rescuers after seeing belongings of a man on the ice of the river on January 12, IPN reports.

The frogmen performed underwater works and found the body of the man whose identity is yet to be established.

The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns that the ice on rivers and lakes is very thin and poses a threat. Sixteen persons drowned in Moldova last winter.
