More than 50 book editors and distributors from Romania and Moldova are taking part in the International Book Show “Bookfest Chisinau 2017” that is hosted by Moldexpo during August 30 and September 3. The visitors are met with books covering different fields, IPN reports.

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said the International Book Show “Bookfest Chisinau” is a model of efficient cooperation between those who speak one and the same language.

Liliana Turoiu, president of the Romanian Cultural Institute, which is the main sponsor of the event, said the Institute daily supports projects to promote the Romanian language. “There is no other more suitable event for celebrating the Romanian language than this event staged in Chisinau. I’m convinced that together with my colleagues, we will bring a larger audience to the Romanian cultural events,” stated Liliana Turoiu.

The Romanian editorial group ART presented a series of novelties, including the Harry Potter series, the Golden Books collection and the Musai collection with 100 awarded titles. The teens can find such books as Miss Peregrine, Fifth Wave and Jonas’ Present. The cheapest book costs 40 Moldovan lei, while the most expensive one is a box consisting of the first three volumes of the Harry Potter series and costs 395 lei.

The publishing house Arc provides books for all tastes and pockets. The explicative illustrative Romanian language dictionary is one of the most expensive books. The encyclopedias for children and teens are also expensive, but are in demand. All the books are sold at a 20% discount.

The books of the publishing house Bestseller can be bought at discounts of up to 50%.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of Moldova, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the “Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi” Institute for Romanians Abroad, the Union of Editors of the Republic of Moldova and the Association of Editors of Romania.
