Two Moldovans and a Ukrainian were caught smuggling 8 tonnes of ethyl alcohol from Moldova into Ukraine, not far from the settlements Taraclia and Ogorodnoe, in the morning of July 22, IPN reports.

According to the Border Police, the three were pumping alcohol through a conduit from the territory of Moldova to the territory of Ukraine, where there was a vehicle with a tank. Representatives of the border authorities of the two states monitored for a period the acts of the three men. Meanwhile, they managed to pump 4 tonnes of alcohol over to Ukraine.

There were found two units of transport, one of which was registered in Bulgaria, in which there were the pump and the containers. The three men were arrested. They face three to ten years in jail.

The alcohol is to be de examined. If it’s of a high quality, it will be submitted to the Tax Service for being managed. If it’s counterfeit, it will be destroyed.
