Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said the Ministry he heads does not have the right and never sold realty. The official made related statements after he was summoned to the National Anticorruption Center to be questioned over the sale of a state building located on Mihai Eminescu St, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Since I was appointed as a minister, I signed no sale-purchase contract. On the contrary, I took measures to remove the illegalities committed in September 2009, including concerning the Chisinau Circus, the realty situated at 24 Pushkin St and this building located on M. Eminescu St, which we returned from a company created illegally. I saw no sale contract until now. I know only that the offices were leased out,” the minister told a news conference.
As regards the fact that he didn’t go to the National Anticorruption Center when he was summoned, Boris Focsa said that he was on leave during February 12-21. “They staged an absurd show. I found out from the media that the Center started a criminal case against me over misuse of authority five months ago. It is strange, but this information appeared on the first day of my leave,” said the official.
Boris Focsa also said that though Moldova tends to build the rule of law, he found out that he was summoned to the National Anticorruption Center from the media. “It is regrettable that the prosecution body defies the legal norms concerning summoning, while the threats against me are a serious violation of the principle of the presumption of innocence,” stated the minister.
He stressed he never broke the law and is ready to fulfill any legal order, but his rights must be respected.
