Bread gets dearer in Drochia, Edinet and Briceni
The inhabitants of Drochia, Edinet and Briceni districts will pay by 0.5 lei more for bread. On July 1, the bakery Maximus Pan, which supplies bread to almost 1,500 shops in the three districts, raised the price of bakery products by about 30%. The information was confirmed by the company’s director Oleg Lisyi.
Contacted by Info-Prim-Neo, Oleg Lisyi said the company increased the prices not because it is short of flour, but owing to the rise in the electricity and heat tariffs. Otherwise, it would have gone bankrupt.
On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gutu said they will be examining the price rises. According to him, Maximus Pan borrowed 400 tonnes of wheat from the state reserve this April and there are no reasons to increase the price of bread.
From today, the cheapest bread made by Maximus Pan costs 2.3 lei, while the most expensive one – over 5 lei.
