The road bridge on the R3 road, Chisinau–Hancesti–Cimislia–Basarabeasca–border with Ukraine, was reopened to vehicle traffic following the completion of repair works. The repaired bridge has a length of 89.1 meters and a total width of 11.30 meters and includes traffic guardrails and also pedestrian guardrails, IPN reports.

The bridge enables to cross the road over the Cogilnic river, in the town of Basarabeasca. Built in 1970, it exceeded the service life of 51 years and its functional characteristics no longer met the requirements of road and pedestrian traffic safety, which imposed the need to carry out remedial works to improve traffic safety and comfort, said the State Road Administration.

The works to renovate the bridge began a year ago. The value of the investment is over 22 million lei. The money was allocated from the Road Fund.
