The Broadcasting Coordination Council so far this year imposed 32 penalties for violations of the broadcasting legislation, including 27 public warnings and five fines, IPN reports.
The Council carried out general and thematic inspections, monitored the observance of the legal provisions on the broadcasting of advisements during TV programs and the ensuring of social-political balance, equidistance and objectivity in news programs.
According to rapporteur Dorina Curnic, seven public meetings were convened in the first three months of the year. There were adopted 44 decisions and issued 12 broadcast licenses, eight of which for the next period of activity, while three to new TV channels.
The Council also issued two retransmission authorizations for the next period of activity and withdrew two broadcast licenses and two retransmission authorizations. In the period, 23 radio frequencies and 11 TV channels were put up for contest.
