A 14-year-old girl attempted to rescue her drowning younger brother, but died together with him. The children were resting on the bank of a lake not far from Congaz village of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The ten-year-old boy entered the water the first. When he started to drown, his sister rushed to help him. But she could not swim and they both drowned. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Liliana Puscasu, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, said the body of the boy was recovered yesterday evening, at about 7pm, while of the girl this morning. As many as 157 persons, including 26 children, have drowned in Moldova's waters this year.
