Budget of Ethno Jazz Festival affected by sequestration of Chisinau City Hall accounts
The Chisinau City Hall could not allot money to Ethno Jazz 2009 Festival, as a partner of the event, because the accounts of the local public administration have been sequestered by the Ministry of Justice as the Chisinau administration did not implement the ECHR decision to provide police officers, prosecutors and judges with dwellings.
The Culture Division head Lucia Culev has told Info-Prim Neo that the City Hall was to allocate 70,000 lei for organizing the festival, covering the accommodation and traveling expenses of the participants, etc. Thus, a part of the costs could not be covered and some of the services were provided 'on credit'.
”Representatives of the Government promised that the accounts will become accessible on Monday and we will be able to fulfill our obligations. We hope that the Ministry of Justice will unblock the accounts yet,” Culev said.
The organizer of the festival Anatol Stefanet, the leader of Trigon band, said that the organization of the festival was not impacted even if this money was not transferred. But problems could appear the next week, when the festival will close. Stefanet said that though we are in a crisis, the quality and the number of invited musicians weren't affected by the financial problems.
