The childcare allowance provided to socially uninsured mothers will be by 100 larger next year. The allowance for insured mothers will be also increased and will not be lower than 400 lei, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Valentina Buliga stated that the elderly people with pensions lower than 300 lei will be financially supported in 2014. “The current social protection system is yet rather complex and with insufficient financial resources. We want the people to benefit from services of a high quality. There are many related projects, but the state cannot support all of them. They often level criticism in society as to different raises. I personally cannot decide on increases. We will face such situations until we do not have fiscal culture,” she stated.

According to the minister, the pensioners must be supported as it is the duty of the state to establish mechanisms for protecting the persons with low pensions and it will be logical to index the salaries too. 

Valentina Buliga added that a series of social support projects were implemented in 2013 and special attention was paid to the program for supporting persons in need and with disabilities. In this connection, there was worked out the legal framework for integrating the Romanies into society.
