By seeking Plahotniuc’s dismissal they want to get political dividends, analysts
The Liberal-Democratic MPs attack First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc because they know that the latter faces no risks. By making such statements each of them wants to obtain political dividends. If they had considered Vlad Plahotniuc very dangerous, they wouldn’t have stayed in the same alliance with him, considers political analyst Igor Botan. He was asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on the Lib-Dems’ proposal that Vlad Plahotniuc should resign.
“In 2011, Vlad Filat (the leader of the PLDM, a.n.) said that Plahotniuc is the puppeteer. What is the reason of saying that Plahotniuc controls an area or another, but to remain in the same alliance with him? Why don’t they impose a condition on him – either you live or we will live?” said the analyst.
Political analyst Mihai Cernencu said that many MPs are probably right when they say that Vlad Plahotniuc should be dismissed. “This person got into a panic when he saw that the problem of his discharge was raised. I doubt he will be dismissed as there appear corporate interests or the oligarchization of political parties,” he stated.
Political analyst Oazu Nantoi believes that the lawmakers know more if they seek Plahotniuc’s discharge. “After the formation of the ruling alliance, we saw raider attacks and acts aimed at discrediting Moldova’s image, but we didn’t saw the end result and don’t know who is to blame and if these accusations are well-founded. The situation is very confuse and we cannot expect that Speaker Marian Lupu will propose including Mister Plahotniuc’s dismissal in the agenda and the voting will be as easy as when considering shortening a working day,” he stated.
As to the results of the January 21 extraordinary session of the legislature, Oazu Nantoi as well as Mihai Cernencu considers that society didn’t earn much. Valeriu Zubko left and that’s all. But the system remained the same. Oazu Nantoi believes that the acceptance of Valeriu Zubko’s resignation does not change the rules of the game inside the alliance.
The agenda of the Parliament’s January 21 extraordinary sitting included two issues: the resignation of the prosecutor general, and the creation of a commission of inquiry into the December 23 accidental shooting of a man in the reserve “Padurea Domneasca”. The MPs voted unanimously for Zubko’s discharge and for the creation of the commission. A number of Liberal-Democratic MPs urged Vlad Plahotniuc to resign.
On January 22, the lawmakers will come together for a new extraordinary sitting, at the request of the Communist faction. Two issues will be discussed in the meeting: the dismissal of Speaker Marian Lupu, and the dismissal of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc.
