Cabinet allocates money for Paris Olympians

The Cabinet has allocated over 33 million lei from the Reserve Fund for awarding the athletes who achieved remarkable results at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Their coaches, doctors and masseurs will also be awarded, IPN reports.

Anastasia Nikita and Ion Basoc, who won silver medals in women's wrestling and para judo, will get by 2.6 million lei each. Judo bronze medalists Denis Vieru and Adil Osmanov, and Sergei Tarnovschi and Oleg Crețul, who ranked third in canoe sprint and para judo, will receive by 2 million lei each.

Marin Robu, who ranked fourth in the weightlifting event, will be awarded 600,000 lei. Daniela Cociu, Maria Olărașu, Larisa Marinenkova and Valentin Petic will receive by 300,000 lei each. The athletes ranked seventh in canoe sprint, para powerlifting and Greco-Roman wrestling. Gheorghe Spînu, who finished in eighth place in para athletics, will get 200,000 lei.

Coaches will be awarded the same amounts as the athletes, while doctors and masseurs will get amounts of 20,000 to 260,000 lei.

The Summer Olympics were held from July 26 to August 11, and the Paralympic Games between August 28 and September 9. For the first time, the Republic of Moldova won six medals.
