Cabinet approves strategy for preventing and combating trafficking in persons

The Cabinet agreed the strategy for preventing and combating trafficking in human beings for the next five years. The document includes measures to prevent the phenomenon, social protection and victim assistance measures and prosecution and case trial actions, IPN reports.

The strategy will be implemented in two stages. The plan of action for the first stage, for 2018-2020, includes over 100 activities. Among these are: training of the border police and other representatives of the law enforcement bodies to efficiently react to cases of trafficking in persons; adjustment of the database concerning criminal cases started over this type of offenses, and inclusion of information about trafficking in human beings in the secondary school curriculum.

The efficient functioning of the placement services and centers intended for victims of trafficking in human beings, the information and counseling and professional orientation and formation services will be further ensured.
