The patients with cancer will benefit from compensated medicines for treatment, which will be released to them in any drugstore of the country and there will be no need for them to travel to Chisinau, IPN quoted Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco as saying after the meeting of the Council for Compensated Drugs.
“For the first time in the history of the national health insurance system, we today agreed that the oncological diseases will be a strategic priority in the next half a year and in 2023, for whose treatment compensated medicines will be accessible. We start by ensuring the patients’ access to treatment followed at home or in district institutions by a method that is different from the current one,” stated the minister.
These drugs will no longer be purchased through public procurement procedures that ensured access to only one medicine that became the winner of the tender content. A number of international drug names will be available from drugstores.
“We will eliminate the useless trips made by patients to Chisinau, will bring medicines closer to them and will also offer access to a larger number of modern international drug names,” said Ala Nemerenco.
