Cars for Olympic medalists

Besides an apartment and €80,000 from the Government, for each, Olympic medalists Cristina Iovu and Anatol Caracu have been awarded a car each by the International Foundation for Assistance of Veterans and Invalids of Sports (IFAVIS), Info-Prim Neo reports. Head of the National Weightlifting Federation Tudor Casapu declared the gesture was beautiful and welcome. “We knew there had been a statement that the best athlete would receive a car, but considering that there were two who returned with medals from the Olympics, the Foundation representatives kept their promise and offered a car to each of them. Taking into account the current state of sports in Moldova, these medals are a great achievement for the country. Moreover, the last medal Moldova won in this field was at the 1992 Olympics. Thus, after 10 years, the Moldovan athletes managed to bring our country two medals”, declared Tudor Casapu. The head of the Weightlifting Federation said that we should be proud that the Moldovan flag was raised twice at the Olympic Games in London. Moldova ranked 75th out of 204 participant countries.
