Case concerning smuggling of 50 kg of hashish sent to court
Prosecutors recently closed the investigation into the attempt to smuggle hashish through the Leuseni-Albita customs post. The three persons suspected of involvement in the case face up to 15 years in jail, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on December 18, prosecutor Anatolie Pitel, of the Exceptional Cases Investigation Division of the Prosecutor General’s Office, said that the case was sent to the Hancesti Court. The suspects are accused of smuggling and illegal distribution of narcotic substances.
According to the prosecutors, in July two men bought a Volkswagen T4 car from Spain and, hiding Moroccan drugs inside it, headed for Moldova.
When checking the vehicle, the traffic inspectors found about 50 kg of hashish in the reservoir. The drugs were to be smuggled into Russia.
