Case of Nicolae Nogai sent to court

The legal case opened against the Bender Court of Appeals judge Nicolae Nogai, who is accused of illegally authorizing the sale of shares in BC Moldova-Agroindbank SA, was remitted to court, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the judge is accused of passing an illegal decision that had serious consequences. He faces 3 to 7 years in jail and may be banned from holding certain posts or performing certain activities for a period of up to five years. The case was sent to the Causeni Court for examination, in accordance with the local jurisdiction. But the prosecutors intend to demand transferring the case to a similar court in Chisinau municipality so as to ensure the objective and swift examination of the case. Earlier this year, Nicolae Nogai was suspended from post by the Supreme Council of Magistrates, at the request of Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko.
