A new formula will be applied to calculate the cash transfers from the state budget to the mandatory health insurance funds for medically insuring particular categories of people. A bill approved by the Cabinet envisions the exclusion of the currently used percentage share model. The transferred amount will be equal in value to the sum transferred the previous year. This will be indexed in accordance with the consumer price index projected for the year when the transfer is made, IPN reports.

The changes were made in accordance with the recommendations of the Court of Auditors.

A sum of 2.67 million lei will be needed to implement the law in 2018, up 149,000 lei compared with the cash transfers for 2017.
