CCECC officers arrest investigator on bribery charges
The Anticorruption Center has caught red handed a criminal investigation officer at the Riscani district Police Commissariat when he was receiving a bribe, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communique from the CCECC.
The communique tells that the investigator had requested and received €250 from a suspect in turn for trying to convince the prosecutor to terminate criminal proceedings in a case. Part of the money, €150, was meant to reach the prosecutor.
Although trying to elude the anticorruption officers, the investigator was caught red-handed when receiving the second installment of €150 of the bribe that was marked “CCECC bribe”.
The investigator was charged with passive corruption and faces a jail sentence from 5 to 10 years, a fine from 1,000 to 3,000 conventional units and a ban from certain jobs and activities for 2 to 5 years.
