Center for Combatting Trafficking in Persons employees to stand trial

The criminal case concerning influence peddling started against the deputy head of the Center for Combatting Trafficking in Persons and a prosecution officer of this institution was sent to court, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases.

The suspects, asserting that they have influence on a public figure, asked for €30,000 from a person for having the charges against a relative dropped. The prosecution officer received the first tranche of €10,000. The two are now under arrest.

If they are found guilty, they will be jailed for two to six years and will be fined 150 000 to 200 000 lei and banned from performing a particular activity.
