Students of the Faculty of Design of the Technical University of Moldova will now have more practical lessons. This became possible after the first Center of Excellence and Acceleration in Design and Technology was opened in Moldova. The Center will train young designers according to the new international requirements, IPN reports.
The institution is outfitted with a lab, including a photo lab, co-working areas, an electronic library and a library of books and catalogues that will be used in the education process. The goal of the project is to improve the competences and skills of the employees working in the light industry and to stimulate the creation potential and entrepreneurial spirit in the area of fashion and design.
Attending the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said that an acute problem will be solved through the agency of such a Center. It is the supply and demand of labor force. “Thus, the private enterprises and university personnel will be able to cooperate in efficiently training new specialists. By creating such centers, we will develop a balanced economy,” stated the Premier.
The representative of a private company working in the area of light industry said the opening of such a center will bring only benefits. “The students will be trained at a much higher level. After the graduation, these will be much better prepared to start work. There will also be much more efficient communication between the teaching staff and the private companies,” stated Vasile Ciobanu.
For their part, the students said they are glad that they will be able to become creators with practice since studying at the university.
The project was implemented with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development, which invested US$250,000. The contribution of the Technical University of Moldova was US$100,000.
