Central bank cooperates with anticorruption service in investigation of its ex-employees

The National Bank of Moldova is cooperating with the National Anticorruption Center in the investigation of the persons who held executive posts at the Bank, IPN reports, quoting the National Bank governor Sergiu Cioclea.

The governor told a news conference that for the central bank it is very important for the investigation to be completed so as to prove the blame or innocence of these persons.

According to Sergiu Cioclea, the National Bank presented all the documents required by the National Anticorruption Center. It has performed internal inspections, but the governor avoided to speak about these before the Center announces the results of its investigation.

In another development, the governor informed that two candidates were selected for the vacancies of vice governor. “These are persons from Moldova with international studies and with experience. I thought the candidates will be confirmed during the parliamentary session that ended recently. However, owing to the tight agenda, we agreed with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu that the candidates will be approved at the start of the autumn session,” he stated.

Sergiu Cioclea also said that since he took up his duties, he was phoned by no senior official, politician or any other person to be instructed or told how to act.
