About 400 Christmas tree handmade toys were offered for sale at the second edition of the charity fair “Mothers to mothers”, organized on Saturday, December 22, in a mall in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Director of the social mission “Diaconia” Igor Belei told Info-Prim Neo that the prices of toys start from 30 lei, but this being a charity fair, everyone could make an act of charity according to his or her financial possibilities.
“These are quality toys, made with heart. These are unique models because each of the moms that participated in making them put soul in what they made. You won’t find toys like these anywhere else and the Christmas tree can be enriched every year with original toys bearing the holidays’ message”, said Igor Belei.
The money gathered from sales will be used for co-financing the Maternal Center “In mother’s arms”, launched by the Social Mission “Diaconia” in September 2011, where about 20 teen mothers are sheltered and offered psychological counseling every year.
“It’s everyone’s duty to mobilize and help those around us. It’s a gesture of solidarity and this fair is a way in which we can provide help to those who need it”, said the “Diaconia” director.
Last year’s fair gathered 17,500 lei. The money was allotted for the care of newborns at the Maternal Center. This year, about 100 young mothers participated in the making of Christmas tree toys, thus showing solidarity with the underage mothers on the verge of despair.
