The first deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL), Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca does not make comments on the position of the Council for Reforming the PL, which proposed him for party leadership instead of Mihai Ghimpu, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, Dorin Chirtoaca will not pronounce yet as such subjects cannot be commented on without a through analysis, from a distance, especially over the phone. The mayor is now on a work visit to Brussels and Luxemburg.

The Council for Reforming the Liberal Party demanded that the party should return to the negotiations and convene the Extraordinary Congress for promoting Dorin Chirtoaca to the post of PL chairman. The statement signed by 28 MPs, ministers, deputy ministers and members of the local organizations of the PL was made public in a news conference on the afternoon of April 12.
