Chisinau authorities will have to pay 10 million lei for honouring enforceable titles
The Chisinau administration must pay about 10 million lei the next few days to honour the enforceable titles issued by courts. A large part of these titles refer to the categories of people that the local administration is obliged by law to provide with housing, but does not have possibility.
Maria Caraus, the head of the General Finance Division, informed about this on February 4. She said that the account of the municipal Treasury was arrested and they should find possibilities of paying this sum. If the money is not paid within 15 days, there will be imposed a penalty of 5% of the sum.
According to Maria Caraus, the municipality must enforce about 160 enforceable titles. Recently, the local administration paid 100 million lei to Termocom SA for honouring an enforceable title after it lost the lawsuit filed by the heat supplier for not wanting to pay the difference in heating charges.
At the same meeting, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca described the situation as an attempt to bring the municipality to payment incapacity, suggesting that the central authorities make use of a complex scheme to achieve this goal. He anticipated that in the near future the Chisinau administration will be forced by the court to pay about 100 million lei in debts to Termocom for December and January.
Last year, the municipal authorities paid 3 million lei for honouring enforceable titles.
