Candidacies of Inga Ionesii, Angela Cutasevici and Ilie Ceban for deputy mayor of the capital were accepted. For each of them, 27 municipal councilors voted, IPN reports.
Inga Ionesii will be responsible for attracting investments. The CMC voted for her in her absence. Inga Ionesii is ambassador to Estonia and is due to finish her term soon. Mayor Ion Ceban has said that Inga Ionesii has several responsibilities abroad, and is the chairperson of the Gala of Ambassadors. After December 13, she will return to the country and there will be no incompatibility with the position of deputy mayor any longer. Inga Ionesii prepared the strategy for institutional development of Chisinau municipality for a period of three years, which she will present upon her return. The mayor assured the councilors that they would appreciate it.
For the candidacy of Inga Ionesii, the councilors of PSRM, PDM, PPȘ and the councilor of "New Force" Movement voted. Seven PAS councilors abstained from voting, while one voted against her. PPDA and PUN councilors also abstained. The PCRM councilor voted against her candidacy.
Angela Cutasevici will be responsible for the social and educational field. She was asked by a representative of the "Solitary Parents" association, Ala Revenco, how she would solve the problem of collecting illegal fees in educational establishments. Angela Cutasevici has replied that there is an approved anti-corruption sectoral strategy, and the first thing she will do is to see how this strategy is connected to the municipality. Then, together with other entities, she will decide how to combat the phenomenon. Angela Cutasevici says that while looking for a solution to the problem it should be taken into account that parents also encourage the phenomenon of corruption in schools.
For the candidacy of Angela Cutasevici, the councilors of PSRM, PDM, PPȘ and the councilor of "New Force" Movement voted. PPDA, PUN and four PAS councilors abstained. Four other PAS councilors and the PCRM councilor voted against her.
Ilie Ceban will be the deputy mayor in charge of the legal field. Earlier, in his presentation, Ilie Ceban has stated that he has been employed as a lawyer for the last ten years, has extensive experience in working with citizens and providing legal services. He also worked in several companies, being responsible for legal matters.
For the candidacy of Ilie Ceban, the councilors of PSRM, PDM, PPȘ and the councilor of "New Force" Movement voted. PPDA, PAS and PUN councilors abstained from voting. The PCRM councilor voted against him.
The general mayor, Ion Ceban, told the deputy mayors that their professionalism and competence should serve their job well. The mayor recommended that they be receptive to each councilor, citizen or head of directorate. The mayor has assured the councilors that he has full confidence in the deputy mayors, that they have no political affiliation and have been selected on the basis of their merits, professionalism and competences.
Corneliu Pântea, PUN councilor, contradicted him, saying that the selection of candidates for the post of deputy mayor was made on political criteria. "There are two PSRM and two PDM candidates," said Corneliu Pântea.
At the CMC meeting on November 20, Inga Ionesii, Angela Cutasevici and Ilie Ceban did not accumulate enough votes to be promoted to office. Only Victor Chironda, who manages the urban planning field, was elected then deputy mayor. 41 councilors had voted for Victor Chironda.
