Chisinau City Hall jurist arrested for taking €10,000 bribe

An employee of the Legal Assistance Division of the Chisinau City Hall was caught in the act of taking €10,000 bribe on May 4. He will be investigated for passive corruption, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press briefing, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that he personally denounced the jurist to the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime after an employee of the same division informed him that the man asked for money from a company that was in litigation with the City Hall. He asked taking measures to catch him red-handed. “I would be glad if corrupt employees were caught daily so that all the institutions get rid of them. I have constantly warned my colleagues from the City Hall against taking bribe. A much larger number of colleagues than it may seem are suspected of corruption,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca. “Without evidence, I cannot give names. There are persons at the Public Amenities Division and the Land Division that I suspect of corruption. Victor Corman, of the Architecture Division, who built two annexes to the house without authorization was suspended and will be dismissed. There are also other corrupt persons.” The arrested jurist, Lilian Lisnic-Rascoala is one of the 15 jurists of the Legal Assistance Division, who has worked at the City Hall since 2007.
