Chisinau City Hall’s Christmas tree stolen

The Christmas tree of the Chisinau City Hall disappeared from the Straseni Forest Ground, where it was confiscated by the police, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué released by the City Hall on Sunday, December 21. According to the communiqué, on the same day Eliferie Haruta, the head of the Green Spaces Administration Association, found out that the fir tree purchased by the City Hall disappeared from the truck held in Straseni. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will ask the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the disappearance of the tree. The Green Spaces Administration Association bought a fir tree from a private farm. The tree was to be placed in central Chisinau, but officers of the Traffic Police Service detained the vehicle that was transporting the tree. The Mayor General said that they wanted to put the tree in five different locations in downtown Chisinau: the Great National Assembly Square, the Square of Europe in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great”, the square of the Opera House, the square in the Cathedral’s Park and on Vlaicu Parcalab Street in front of the City Hall’s building. But every time the police hindered the persons in charge from fulfilling the mayor’s orders.
