Chisinau college administration suspected of appropriating over 4m lei

The administration of the International Business College based in Chisinau is suspected of not indicating incomes of over 4 million lei in the bookkeeping accounts. The damage caused to the state was estimated at about 900,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vitalie Briceag, head of the Frauds Division of the Ministry of the Interior, told a news conference that the college’s head and chief accountant are among the suspects. According to the police, in 2007-2012 the administration of the college, which is a private one, collected the tuition that represents between 6,000 and 8,000 lei a year and appropriated a part of the money by not indicating it in the financial records. Vitalie Briceag said that upon a search they found double bookkeeping registers and diplomas of Ukrainian education institutions. They do not exclude that the college’s administration also committed forgery in public documents. Police carried out inspections after a number of students a month ago expressed their indignation with the lack of conditions for study at the college. The suspects face 8 to 15 years in jail over appropriation if they are found guilty.
