The Chisinau City Hall and the Government of Moldova will have to identify solutions to the problems faced by SA Termocom. The decision passed by the Supreme Court of Justice on March 4, whereby the heat supplier was transferred back to the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), is not in favor of the local authorities. The statements were made by Chisinau councilor Oleg Cernei in a news conference on March 29, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In 2001, when Termocom was declared insolvent, its debts totaled about 780 million lei. Now they come to 1.4 billion lei. Together with the current ones, the debts amount to 2.2 billion lei,” Oleg Cernei said ”Thus, the Council cannot efficiently manage the company and needs the Government's support. The City Hall and the Government should take a joint decision as regards this company's future.” The councilman considers that when the insolvency decision was canceled in 2002, the Supreme Court of Justice had to reinstate the former administrators of the heat supplier in their posts. Then, Alexandr Ftomovici was the company's director general, while the then deputy mayor Anatol Turcanu – the president of the Administration Board. “However, the Supreme Court of Justice let Dionisie Antocel, who was named by the Communist Government, to manage Termocom. Now that Termocom is again administered by the CMC, we have to convene the general meeting of shareholders and elect the new director general of the company, the president of the Administration Board and the censorship commission,” Cernei said. Oleg Cernei said he does not want to be appointed president of the Administration Board and does not envy the person who will hold this post as there is a lot of work and the working conditions are tough. “Termocom has always been a political instrument in the Government's hands. The situation in the country is difficult and the cooperation with the Government will not be easy,” he said. The CMC owns 72% of the shares in SA Termocom. The other shares are held by private individuals and legal entities.
