The public organization “Salvgardare” and the movement “Armonia Spirituala” accuse the Chisinau councilors of breaking the fifth of the Ten Commandments, which says that the parents must be respected. Both of the organizations are picketing the Chisinau City Hall, demanding that the decision to raise the bus and trolleybus fares and water and sewerage charges be annulled, as it affected mainly the elderly people.
Representatives of the two organizations shared by a poster about the Ten Commandments to every councilor during Friday's meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The head of “Salvgardare” Maia Laguta said all the decisions made by the councilors are immoral, which shows that they do not know the Ten Commandments. “We try to make the councilors hear us by one more method. By increasing the price of water, they showed they do not care about their parents,” Laguta said.
“We hope they will wake up and remember that they have parents,” said Boris Ciobanu, the head of “Armonia Spirituala”. He stressed they decided to join the pensioners because nobody hears them and everyone is indifferent to their situation.
The Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca replied that he always thinks of his parents. As to the higher bus and trolleybus fares, he said that they are now considering issuing a monthly season ticket for pensioners that will cost 70 lei – the value of the compensation for trips by public units of transport paid by the Chisinau authorities.
