Chisinau Hall continues spring tidyup

The Chisinau municipality continues its spring cleaning works. Deputy mayor Vladimir Cotet told the Monday sitting of the City Hall 50% of the works planned in the two-month cleaning drive had already been done, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the deputy mayor, the work goes in accordance with the established program and deadlines. Yet Vladimir Cotet recognized several weak points as the garbage dump from Tohatin village which is to be urgently liquidated. The head of the Transport Direction, Veaceslav Tarna, has said the road repairs have started. This week, if weather allows, the City Hall will start to fill in roads and then it will start to repair them properly. As for illuminating the streets of the capital, Nicolae Veresco says they work intensely on installing illuminating lampposts, as such works unfolded on 11 streets last week. Five streets from those have had no light at night for the last six years. Similar works are unfolding in the suburbs Truseni, Durlesti and Hulboaca. The head of the “Green Spaces” Direction, Eliferie Haruta, says the planting works in the capital are in full swing. Old trees are cut off on the main streets, and new young trees will be planted instead. The city’s parks and boulevards are also tidied up. Eliferie Haruta says about 90% of the works planned along the Bac river have been done. In order to keep that area clean, two-three people gather the garbage on a daily basis, as the companies on the banks will have to further take care of the adjacent areas to keep up the order. General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca says he sees a betterment in this respect after the cleaning works unfolded.
