Chisinau may face a new pandemic flu phase
Two of the 11 persons who died from pandemic influenza A(H1N1) in Moldova are from Chisinau. The capital city could experience a new infection phase. The situation was discussed at a meeting of the municipal anti-epidemic commission on November 27, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the meeting, Iurie Panzaru, the chief sanitary inspector of Chisinau, said both of the persons died because they contacted the doctor too late. “Given that more than 250 persons get infected with the disease every week, we must examine attentively the risks and take steps to combat the spread of the virus,” he said.
A umber of 628 persons infected with pandemic flu were in hospitals in Chisinau on November 26. 109 beds were still available.
The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport said 64 cases of pandemic flu have been reported in the Chisinau schools by November 27. The Division received 1.3 million lei that will be used to purchase 1,305 liquid soap dispensers and 360 had dryers. 300,000 lei more is needed to supply all the education institutions with liquid soap and hand dryers, said the Division's head Tatiana Tvedohleb.
Under an ordinance issued by the Ministry of Education, if a pandemic flu case is confirmed in a group/class, the education process in the given group/class will be suspended for a period of seven days. If three cases a re confirmed, the institution is closed also for seven days.
As many as 3,232 suspect cases of pandemic flu have been recorded by November 26. The A(H1N1) virus was detected in 1,619 cases of the 3,218 examined.
