Chisinau Mayor's Office to inventory building plots offered to law enforcement bodies
The Chisinau City Hall intends to find out how many apartment houses there were built by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the General Prosecutor's Office (PGO) on the plots of land offered by the municipality specifically for that purpose, as part of a broader inventory which aims to take stock of all the building plots granted since the Independence to both individuals and legal entities, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Diana Gurschi, the head of the municipal legal department, explained at the City Hall's meeting on Monday that the inventory was needed in connection with the fact that some 130 policemen, prosecutors and judges had sued the municipality at the European Court for the failure to provide them with housing, despite plots being offered to the law enforcement bodies exactly for that purpose.
Gurschi went on to add that the MIA and the PGO had been neglecting for years the City Hall's inquires as to how the building plots, with a total area of 3 hectares, had been used.
At the same time, the City Hall intends to verify the use of building plots by construction companies. Under the land allocation contracts, the constructors were obliged to offer the municipality 5-6 apartments in each block for free, but that obligation seems to be totally neglected.
