Man gets frostbitten hands and feet amputated

The very low temperatures make people remain without hands and legs. Marcela Ghita, social assistant at the Accommodation Center for the Homeless, informed Info-Prim Neo that a 57-year-old man whose frozen hands and feet were amputated was brought to the Center several days ago. Ghita said a woman aged 50, whose frostbitten hands and feet were cut last year, came recently to the Center and asked to be accommodated. According to the social assistant, a large number of homeless persons received lodging and medical assistance at the Center the previous frosty days. The Center has 70 places, but can accommodate more persons when necessary. Adrian Jovmir, senior specialist at the Public Relations Service of the General Police Commissariat, said 54 homeless persons have been brought to the Center for the Homeless during the last 24 hours. The General Police Commissariat asks the residents of Chisinau to inform the police about cases when homeless persons sleep on the street on 902.
