The municipality of Chisinau on March 29 will join the Earth Hour event. The internal and external lights and electrical appliances in the buildings of the institutions managed by the local public administration will be turned off for an hour, between 8:30am and 9:30pm, the City Hall says in a communiqué, quoted by IPN.

By this event, Chisinau supports the global environment initiative that aims to sensitize the people to the ecological problems. The initiative also represents a call to the residents of Chisinau to save energy resources so as to contribute to the conservation of electricity and lower carbon emissions.

Earth Hour is an international event launched by World Wide Fund for Nature Australia – an environmental lobby group from Sydney. About 1.3 billion people have taken part in the event so far.
