The teachers in Chisinau municipality risk remaining without the monthly social assistance of 130 lei that is allocated from the municipal budget. “The memorandum signed by the Government of Moldova and the International Monetary Fund says the local authorities shall no longer provide such assistance,” stated Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the mayor, the competent divisions are to establish the legal possibilities, taking into account the commitment made by Moldova to the IMF. Dorin Chirtoaca said the pensioners this year may not receive the assistance of 100 lei given before the Easter holidays. The final decision will be announced next week. “If I reach the old age and am able to write memoirs then, I will reveal details about such issues as the green arrows placed at stoplights and the assistance offered to teachers,” said the mayor. The Chisinau administration has provided 130 lei a month in social assistance to teachers for three years.
