Chisinau Trolleybus Company employees protest on manager's birthday

Conductors, drivers and ticket inspectors of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company protested on March 1, demanding that the company's director Gheorghe Morgoci be dismissed. The protest was held on Morgoci's birthday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ticket inspector Constantin Marca said he has worked for the company for six years and considers things worsened when Gheorghe Morgoci was named manager. “After Morgoci took over in 2008, the situation became worse. We do not get the salaries in time. Many employees have been sent on forced leave,” he said. Conductor Maria Mamaliga complained he has a salary of 1,200 lei at a time when the basic salary is 2,400 lei. “If we ask why the salaries are low, we are insulted and told to leave if we do not like them. Besides, we are accused of stealing money. But we do not steal, we only take the tickets offered by some of the passengers so that we could give them to someone else,” the woman said. The employees demand that the former director Vasili Rudai be reinstated in the post. They accuse Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca of nepotism and say they will protest until Gheorghe Morgoci resign or be discharged. The next protest was scheduled for March 5. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Gheorghe Morgoci said the accusations made by some of the employees are unsupported. He said the protesters are supporters of the former director of the company. He stressed he respects their right to protest, but does not intend to quit as there are no reasons for which he should do it. The Electric Transport Company has about 3,000 employees.
