The winners of the municipal stage of the national contest “The Best Teacher of the Year 2008” were awarded at a ceremony held in the Philharmonic Hall on February 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. Tamara Cerbusca from the “Mihail Berezovschi” Lyceum was named the best primary school teacher. In the best secondary and high-school teacher section, the first place was won by the informatics teacher Angela Prisacaru from the “Natalia Dadiani” Lyceum. The conductor of the school choir “Ion Creanga”, Madalina Ganea, won the first place in the extra-curricular section. The winners were awarded certificates and money prizes worth 10,000 lei each. The runner-ups got second-degree diplomas and prizes worth 4,000 lei, while the teachers that placed third received 3,000 lei. Other awardees were encouraged with money prizes worth 1,000 lei. This year, 23 teachers competed for the title of Chisinau’s best teacher. Following three selection stages, 10 teachers, actually the best ones, made it to the final, said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the Municipal Division for Education, Youth and Sports, and also the chair of the jury. The winners of the municipal stage will represent Chisinau at the national competition, which will take place in two stages: March 5-10 and March 24 – April 15.
