The winter traffic mode has been announced for all the streets in Chisinau. The sloping streets Ganea, Timis, Postei, Vadul lui Voda, Paris and Causeni, as well as the Uzinelor by-street have been closed off. Nonetheless, the snow removal services are clearing these streets as well, IPN learned from a press release of the City Hall.

According to local authorities, the road maintenance services worked all night to clear the streets, especially the main ones used by public transport and the roads to suburbs. The municipal enterprise “Exdrupo” has covered over 800 square meters with anti-skid material. Each sector of the city will be patrolled by two intervention crews and special vehicles have been sent to the suburbs to clean and enlarge the roads.

Overall, the city deployed 450 people for manual snow removal, as well as 22 tractors and 16 Haco snow plows.

Meanwhile, over 100 homeless people are housed at the shelter for the homeless and the institutions works at full capacity.

The City Hall encourages the people to report any problems related to the snowfall or to the municipal services to the central municipal dispatcher at (022) 22-22-67.

Authorities urge the companies and the block administrators to clear the sideways and the parcels under their administration. Chisinau’s residents are also encouraged to use public transport instead of personal cars in order to prevent traffic jams.
